Cooling Bed Type of Seamless Tube Production Line

What are the main types of cooling beds in the seamless tube production line? The following is introduced by the PMC carbon steel tube manufacturer.


There are five types of cooling beds commonly used in the production process of seamless tubes: stepping rack type, double chain type, single chain type, screw type, and new chain type. They can be said to have their own characteristics. For example, the step-and-rack type is usually used in large-scale or high-configuration production lines; the effect of the double-chain bed is better; the single-chain type is not suitable for discontinuous operations; Cooling seamless pipes with smaller diameters; the new chain type has good efficiency and low cost, etc.

1. Single chain cooling bed

The single-chain cooling bed mostly adopts a climbing structure. The cooling bed is composed of a forward transport chain and a fixed guide rail, and has a transmission system. The steel pipe is placed between the two grabs of the forward transport chain, and the fixed guide rail bears the weight of the steel pipe body. The single-chain cooling bed uses the thrust of the forward transport chain claw and the friction of the fixed guide rail to make the steel pipe rotate, and at the same time relies on the steel pipe's own weight and lifting angle to make the steel pipe always close to the forward transport chain claw. Realize the smooth rotation of the steel pipe.

2. Double chain cooling bed
The double-chain cooling bed is composed of a forward transport chain and a reverse transport chain, and each of the forward and reverse chains has a transmission system. The steel pipe is placed between the two grabs of the forward transport chain, and the reverse chain bears the weight of the steel pipe body. The double-chain cooling bed uses the thrust of the claws of the forward transport chain to make the steel pipe run forward, and uses the friction of the reverse chain to make the steel pipe produce continuous rotational motion. The movement of the reverse chain makes the steel pipe always lean against the claws of the forward transport chain to achieve smooth rotation and uniform cooling.

3. New chain cooling bed
Combining the characteristics of single chain cooling bed and double chain cooling bed, the cooling bed is divided into uphill section and downhill section. The uphill section is a double-chain structure composed of a forward transport chain and a reverse transport chain. The positive and negative actions together make the steel pipe continue to rotate and move forward, making climbing movements. The downhill section is a single-chain structure in which the forward transport chain and the steel pipe guide rail are arranged in parallel, and it relies on its own weight to realize rotation and landslide movement.

4. Stepping rack cooling bed
The bed surface of the step rack type cooling bed is composed of two sets of racks, which are assembled on a fixed beam, called a static rack, and assembled on a moving beam, called a moving rack.
When the lifting mechanism is in action, the moving rack lifts up the steel pipe, and because of the inclination angle, the steel pipe rolls along the tooth profile once when it is held up. After the moving gear rises to the high position, the stepping mechanism acts to make the moving rack advance a step toward the output direction of the cooling bed. The lifting mechanism continues to move, driving the moving rack down and putting the steel pipe into the tooth groove of the fixed rack. The steel pipe rolls along the tooth profile of the fixed rack again, and then the moving rack returns to the initial position to complete a working cycle.

5. Screw cooling bed

The screw type cooling is composed of the main transmission device, the screw and the fixed cooling platform, etc. The screw includes the screw core and the screw helix. The working surface of the fixed cooling platform is higher than the screw rod core and lower than the helix line, and the weight of the steel pipe body is borne by the fixed cooling platform. The main transmission device drives the screw to rotate synchronously, and the helix on the screw pushes the steel pipe to roll forward on the fixed cooling platform for cooling.
