Seamless steel pipe is made by perforating steel ingots or solid tubes into rough tubes, and then hot rolling, cold rolling or cold drawing. Seamless steel pipe is a kind of steel material and is an excellent carbon structural steel. It is used by a large number of mold production companies as mold steel. Long steel strips with hollow cross-sections and no seams around the edges. Steel pipes have hollow cross-sections and are widely used as pipelines for transporting fluids, such as pipelines for transporting oil, natural gas, coal gas, water and some solid materials.
Compared with solid steel such as round steel, alloy seamless steel pipe has a lighter weight when the bending and torsional strength are the same. It is an economical cross-section steel and is widely used in the manufacture of structural parts and mechanical parts, such as oil transportation, stair handrails, bicycle racks, and steel scaffolding for construction. The use of alloy seamless steel pipes to manufacture annular parts can improve material utilization, simplify the manufacturing process, save materials and processing time, such as dynamic bearing rings, jack sleeves, etc., which are currently widely made of steel pipes.
Seamless steel pipes are made of high-quality carbon steel or alloy steel, and are divided into hot-rolled and cold-rolled (drawn). Welded steel pipes are made of steel plates rolled into a tube shape and welded by butt seams or spiral seams. In terms of manufacturing methods, they are divided into welded steel pipes for low-pressure fluid transportation, spiral seam electric welded steel pipes, direct rolled steel pipes, electric welded pipes, etc.
Seamless steel pipes can be used for various liquid and gas pipelines. Welded pipes can be used for water pipes, gas pipes, heating pipes, etc. In terms of diameter, those <φ76 account for 35%, and those <φ159-650 account for 25%. In terms of variety, general-purpose pipes account for 1.9 million tons, accounting for 54%; oil pipes account for 760,000 tons, accounting for 5.7%; hydraulic props and pipes account for 150,000 tons, accounting for 4.3%; stainless steel pipes, bearing pipes, and automobile pipes account for 50,000 tons, accounting for 1.4%.
What are the requirements for storing seamless steel pipes in warehouses?
(1) Small and medium-sized steel, wire rods, steel bars, medium-diameter steel pipes, steel wires and wire ropes can be stored in a well-ventilated material shed, but they need to be covered with mats.
2) Some small steel products, thin steel plates, steel strips, silicon steel sheets, small-diameter or thin-walled steel pipes, various cold-rolled and cold-drawn steel products, as well as expensive and easily corrosive metal products can be stored in the warehouse.
3) Steel should not be stacked together with acid, alkali, salt, cement and other materials that are corrosive to steel in the warehouse. Different types of steel should be stacked separately to prevent confusion and contact corrosion.
(4) Large steel sections, rails, steel plates, large-diameter steel pipes, forgings, etc. can be stored in the open air.
(5) The warehouse should be ventilated on sunny days and closed on rainy days to maintain a suitable storage environment at all times.
(6) The warehouse should be selected according to geographical conditions. Generally, an ordinary closed warehouse is used, that is, a warehouse with a roof, walls, tight doors and windows, and ventilation devices.
7) The site or warehouse for storing steel should be clean and well-drained, away from factories and mines that generate gas or dust. Weeds and all debris should be cleared on the site to keep the steel clean.
