Galvanized Seamless Tubes in the Construction Field

Date:2025-01-09    keywords: galvanized seamless tube, seamless steel tube, galvanized steel pipe

What is the galvanized seamless tube?

Galvanized seamless tube, as a key material widely used in the construction field, is a seamless steel tube with a layer of zinc on its surface through hot-dip or cold-dip process. At present, the mainstream on the market is hot-dip galvanized seamless pipe, which is to pickle the steel pipe to remove iron oxide, put it into ammonium chloride or zinc chloride aqueous solution for cleaning, and then send it to the hot-dip plating tank to allow the molten metal to react with the iron matrix to form an alloy layer, so that the matrix and the coating are closely combined.

The zinc layer formed in this process not only provides a layer of "protective armor" for the steel pipe, effectively improving its corrosion resistance, but also has many advantages. The hot-dip galvanized layer is uniform and has strong adhesion, which can resist external erosion for a long time and significantly extend the service life of the steel pipe. In contrast, cold-dip galvanized seamless pipes have been gradually eliminated from the market due to their small amount of galvanizing, easy detachment of the coating, and poor corrosion resistance. It is strictly forbidden to use cold-dip galvanized steel pipes as water supply pipes in newly built houses.

Excellent properties of galvanized seamless tubes

First of all, high corrosion resistance is a significant advantage of galvanized seamless tubes. In construction, whether it is a pipe buried deep underground or a structural frame exposed to the outside, the galvanized seamless tube can effectively resist the corrosion threats brought by moist soil, rain, air, etc. with its galvanized layer, greatly extending the service life of the building facilities. For buildings in some coastal areas, the sea breeze carries a lot of salt, which is extremely corrosive. The corrosion resistance of galvanized seamless tubes makes it the best choice to ensure the long-term stability of the building.

Secondly, the good mechanical properties make the galvanized seamless tube very useful. It has high strength and toughness, and can remain stable and not easily deformed or damaged when subjected to complex external forces such as heavy pressure, stretching, bending, etc. of the building structure. This makes it widely used in the load-bearing structure of the building, such as the supporting columns of high-rise buildings and the trusses of large venues, providing solid protection for building safety.

Furthermore, galvanized seamless tubes are also beautiful and decorative. The zinc layer on the surface is uniform and bright, and the color lasts for a long time. It is used in architectural decorative parts, such as stair handrails, balcony railings, door and window frames, etc., which not only adds to the modern beauty of the building, but also reduces the additional decoration cost and maintenance effort, and complements various architectural styles.

Application of galvanized seamless tubes in construction field

1. Stabilize building structure

In the field of construction, galvanized seamless tubes are the "mainstay" of stable building structures. Whether it is a towering skyscraper or a huge industrial plant, as a key material for building frames and supporting structures, it provides a solid guarantee for the stability of the building. Taking large commercial buildings as an example, the load-bearing columns and beams constructed with galvanized seamless tubes can steadily bear the weight of each floor, resist the impact of natural disasters such as strong winds and earthquakes, and ensure that the building stands firm; in the construction of industrial plants, it relies on its high strength and corrosion resistance to provide solid support for the installation of large equipment and production line layout, meeting the stringent requirements of production operations.

2. Building a safe passage

Stairs and overpasses are key passages for evacuation and passage of personnel, and have extremely high safety requirements. Galvanized seamless tubes are just right for this task. It is used for stair handrails, step supports, and the main structure of overpasses. Not only is it reliable in strength and can withstand the trampling and impact of dense crowds, but also because of the galvanized surface, it is not easy to rust and corrode in a humid and dusty environment, ensuring the stability and safety of the passage for a long time. Galvanized seamless tubes can be seen everywhere, such as pedestrian overpasses at train stations and bus stations, as well as evacuation stairs inside large shopping malls and hospitals, silently guarding people's travel safety.

3. Protecting the internal and external space

Indoor and outdoor guardrails, railings, doors and windows, etc., need to have both protective functions and aesthetics. Galvanized seamless tubes are undoubtedly the ideal choice. In high-end residential areas, balcony railings and courtyard fences are made of galvanized seamless tubes. Their smooth and beautiful appearance and strong protective performance complement each other, which can not only prevent accidental falls, but also add a modern and refined atmosphere to the buildings. The landscape guardrails of commercial plazas and parks are made of galvanized seamless tubes. While withstanding the sun, rain, and frequent touches, they blend into the surrounding environment with their long-lasting bright color, becoming a landscape element with both practical and ornamental value.
