Features and Applications of Carbon Steel Precision Seamless Tubes

Date:2026-03-30    keywords: carbon steel precision seamless tubes, features and applications
Carbon steel precision seamless tubes are a type of tubing produced through cold rolling. They feature small tolerances and a burr-free surface. After pickling, passivation, and painting, they possess both impact and corrosion resistance, making them widely used in industrial applications requiring high precision and reliability. Their core advantage lies in their ability to solve the problems of corrosion and large dimensional deviations inherent in traditional tubes through precision machining and surface treatment technologies, making them a commonly used material in machinery manufacturing, fluid transportation, and other fields.

Technical Principles and Production Process:

Carbon steel precision seamless tubes use high-quality carbon steel (such as 20#) as raw material and are formed through a cold rolling process. During cold rolling, the metal is gradually compressed by the rolling mill at room temperature, forming a seamless structure with uniform wall size and high dimensional accuracy. Compared to hot-rolled tubes, cold-rolled tubes have a higher surface finish, and the tolerance can be controlled within ±0.1mm, meeting the assembly requirements of precision machinery. Pickling, passivation, and painting are key post-processing steps: pickling removes oxide scale and impurities from the pipe surface, passivation forms a dense oxide film to enhance corrosion resistance, and finally, a protective paint is applied to further isolate environmental corrosion, creating a dual "cleaning-protection" guarantee.

Core Performance and Applicable Scenarios:

The impact resistance of this pipe stems from the toughness of carbon steel, with a yield strength of up to 245 MPa, capable of withstanding mechanical vibration or external impact without deformation. Corrosion resistance is achieved through the pickling and passivation process, providing long-term rust prevention in general humid environments; the specific service life depends on the usage environment and coating maintenance. Its small tolerances and burr-free characteristics allow for direct use in hydraulic systems, pneumatic components, and other applications requiring high sealing performance, reducing secondary processing costs. Furthermore, the pipe supports customized processing services such as cutting and chamfering to adapt to the installation needs of different equipment, making it widely used in engineering machinery, automotive manufacturing, petrochemicals, and other fields.

Usage and Precautions:

Before installation, check that the paint on the pipe surface is intact to avoid scratches that could damage the protective layer. When cutting, it is recommended to use a dedicated pipe cutter, ensuring the cut is perpendicular to prevent leaks. For chamfering, control the angle between 15° and 30° to avoid burr residue. During storage, avoid contact with acidic or alkaline substances. For indoor storage, place the pipe at least 20cm off the ground to prevent moisture absorption. If bending is required, select a suitable bending die according to the pipe specifications. The bending radius should not be less than 5 times the pipe diameter. For smaller radii, it is recommended to use hot bending or annealed pipe to avoid excessive deformation of the pipe wall.

Technical Highlights and Practical Performance:

Compared to traditional pipes, this product offers advantages in three aspects: First, dimensional accuracy: the cold rolling process controls the outer diameter deviation within ±0.05mm, far exceeding national standards. Second, surface quality: the cold rolling process achieves a surface roughness of Ra≤0.8μm, and pickling and passivation further clean the surface, reducing fluid transport resistance. Third, customization flexibility: it supports the production of non-standard specifications such as 60*5mm, and provides supporting services such as weighing and delivery to the factory, shortening the user's procurement cycle. In practical applications, high-precision pipes can effectively reduce the risk of leakage in hydraulic systems and extend maintenance cycles.
