Can Seamless Steel Pipes be Galvanized?
SMLS steel pipe refers to the entire round steel with perforations, no welds on the surface, and is widely used. Ordinary galvanized pipes generally use welded pipes. Can seamless steel pipes be galvanized? The answer is yes. Galvanizing is to apply a layer of zinc on the surface of the steel pipe to protect the steel pipe to the zinc layer and make it less likely to rust. Seamless steel pipe is also a kind of steel pipe that can be galvanized. The performance of galvanized seamless steel pipe is better than that of ordinary steel pipe.
What is the Difference between Galvanized Seamless Steel Pipe and Galvanized Pipe?
Galvanized steel pipes can be called galvanized pipes. The main differences between galvanized seamless steel pipes and galvanized steel pipes are as follows.
1. Different uses.
Galvanized seamless steel pipes are mainly used for general structures and mechanical structures.
Ordinary galvanized steel pipes are welded pipes. They are generally used to transport low-pressure fluid materials such as water, gas, air, oil, hot water or steam. They are strictly prohibited from being used for structural parts.
2. Different materials.
Galvanized seamless steel pipes are generally made of high-quality carbon structural steel such as 10.20.30.35.45, low-alloy structural steel such as 16Mn.5MnV or composite steel such as 40Cr.30CrMnSi.45Mn2, hot-rolled or cold-rolled. Ordinary galvanized steel pipes are generally rolled into pipes from steel plates and then welded into shapes. Most of them are Q195.Q215.Q235 ordinary carbon steel.
3. The physical properties are different.
The tensile strength of galvanized seamless steel pipes is 410mpa, and that of ordinary galvanized steel pipes is 195-235mpa. The pressure-bearing capacity and mechanical properties of seamless steel pipes are better than ordinary galvanized steel pipes. Since galvanized steel pipes use welded pipes, the welded seam part of the welded pipe is a weak link and may burst in harsh environments.
4. Different galvanizing amounts
In contrast, galvanized seamless steel pipes have a small amount of galvanizing, only about 10-50g/㎡
Summary
Ordinary Galvanized Steel Pipe is cost-effective, suitable for lower pressure applications, and commonly used in construction and plumbing.
Galvanized Seamless Steel Pipe offers higher strength, better performance under pressure, and is preferred for industrial and high-stress applications.
