Basic Requirements of Stainless Steel Process

Date:2017-12-27    keywords:stainless steel process
Stainless steel processing equipment is classified as cutting equipment and surface treatment equipment, different equipment and different processing methods for the stainless steel processing effect is different. However, due to the stainless steel processing is precision machining, so there is the corresponding processing requirements.

The geometric parameters of the tool requirements:
When machining stainless steel, the geometry of the cutting part of the tool should generally be considered from the perspective of the front and rear corners. In the choice of anterior horn, to consider the volume groove, with or without chamfering and inclination angle of the positive and negative angles and other factors. No matter what kind of tool, when processing stainless steel must use a larger rake angle. Increasing the rake angle of the tool reduces the resistance encountered during chip removal and removal. The choice of the clearance angle is not very strict, but not too small, the rear corner is too small and easy to produce serious friction surface, so that the deterioration of the processing surface roughness, accelerated tool wear. And due to strong friction, enhanced stainless steel surface hardening effect; tool posterior angle should not be too large, too large after the corner, the wedge angle decreases, reducing the strength of the cutting edge, accelerated tool wear. Normally, the relief angle should be larger than when machining plain carbon steel.

On the cutting part of the surface roughness requirements:
Increasing the surface finish of the cutting part of the tool reduces drag when the chip forms curls and increases the durability of the tool. Compared with the processing of ordinary carbon steel, the processing of stainless steel should be appropriate to reduce the amount of cutting to reduce tool wear; the same time, select the appropriate cooling lubricant to reduce the cutting process of cutting heat and cutting force and extend tool life.

Arbor material requirements:
When machining stainless steel, due to the cutting force larger, so the arbor must have sufficient strength and rigidity, so as to avoid chatter and deformation during cutting. This requires the choice of a suitable large cutter cross-sectional area, but also should be used to produce high strength Arbor, such as quenched and tempered 45 or 50 steel.

Cutting part of the material requirements of the tool:
When machining stainless steel, the material of the cutting part of the tool is required to have high wear resistance and maintain its cutting performance at a high temperature. Currently used materials are: high-speed steel and hard alloy. Because HSS can only maintain its cutting performance below 600 °C, it is not suitable for high-speed cutting and is only suitable for machining stainless steel at low speeds. Because cemented carbide has better heat resistance and wear resistance than HSS, the tool made of cemented carbide is more suitable for stainless steel cutting.

Carbide points tungsten cobalt alloy (YG) and tungsten cobalt titanium alloy (YT) two categories. Tungsten cobalt alloy with good toughness, made of the tool can use a larger rake and sharpening the sharpened edge, cutting chips in the cutting process is easy to deform, cutting light, the chip is not easy to stick knife, in general case, the use of tungsten-cobalt alloy stainless steel processing more appropriate. Especially in the vibration of roughing and intermittent cutting process should be more tungsten-cobalt alloy blade, it is not as hard as the tungsten-cobalt-titanium alloy, easy sharpening, easy to collapse edge. Tungsten Cobalt-titanium alloy red hardness is better than tungsten-cobalt alloy in high temperature conditions, but its brittleness, impatience impact, vibration, generally made of stainless steel car tool.
