What are the Connection Methods for Galvanized Steel Pipes?

What are the connection methods of galvanized steel pipes?

When using galvanized steel pipes, usually not only one galvanized pipe is used, but sometimes two or several galvanized pipes need to be connected. The correct connection method needs to be used. So how many connection methods are there for galvanized pipes?

1. Solder connection

It is common to join two galvanized steel pipes together by welding. This method is time-consuming, but the overall quality is better and it is less likely to leak after welding.

2. Clamp groove connection

Clamp slot connection is a popular connection method. It is easy to construct. You only need to process two steel pipes and then connect them with clamps. However, this connection method requires higher quality of the clamps.

3. Flange connection

This method is to fix two galvanized pipes on one flange, and then fix the two flanges.

Flange connections are often used to connect valves. In addition, when DN is greater than 100mm, galvanized steel pipes can be connected by welding flanges.

What issues should be paid attention to when connecting galvanized pipes?

1. Select the appropriate connection method according to the design specifications and galvanized pipe fitting dimensions. For example, when the DN does not exceed 100 mm, it can be connected with a clamp groove.

2. Before connecting the galvanized pipe, tighten the galvanized pipe by hand, check its tightness, and tighten the fittings with sufficient margin.

3. After the galvanized pipe is connected, a hydrostatic test should be carried out to check whether there is leakage at each connection. If so, it needs to be marked and inspected again after repair until the inspection result is qualified.

When welding galvanized pipe connections, it is recommended to cut off a small section of the steel pipe head before processing to avoid loose connection between the two pipe openings.
