SCH 80 Stainless Steel Welded Pipe

Date:2024-07-04    keywords: sch 80 stainless steel welded pipe, stainless steel pipe, welded stainless steel pipe size
What is stainless steel welded pipe?

Stainless steel welded pipe (SS welded pipe) is a steel pipe welded by stainless steel or steel strip after being curled and formed by a unit and a mold. Stainless steel welded pipes are widely used in construction, structures, machinery, bridges, vehicles, ships, pipelines and other fields. Welded steel pipe has a simple production process, high production efficiency, many varieties and specifications, and low equipment investment. However, its general strength is lower than that of stainless steel seamless pipe, but its production process and cost advantages make it an ideal choice in many applications.

What is SCH 80?
SCH 80 (Schedule 80 pipe) represents the wall thickness, which refers to XS thickened pipes with a pressure wall thickness less than DN200mm. Usage scenarios generally involve high temperature, high pressure, and highly corrosive conditions. The wall thickness of SCH 80 grade pipes is relatively thick, and the pressure and temperature in the use environment must comply with ASME/ANSI standards to ensure the safety and reliability of the pipeline system. SCH 80 grade piping systems are often used in the manufacture of chemical equipment, high-pressure pipelines, high-temperature heaters and some special piping systems. When designing and installing a steel pipe system, it is necessary to select the appropriate pipe number according to the actual use environment to ensure the stability and safety of the pipeline system.

Material of stainless steel pipe:

Stainless steel is an alloy material with corrosion resistance, its main components are chromium and nickel. According to different composition ratios, stainless steel can be divided into stainless steel 304, stainless steel 316, stainless steel 321 and other materials. Stainless steel seamless pipes are mainly made of stainless steel 304 and stainless steel 316. Both materials have excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature strength and are widely used in petroleum, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries.

Classification of SCH 80 stainless steel welded pipe:
According to the different surface conditions of stainless steel welded pipes, they can be divided into two categories:
1. Matt tube: The surface brightness is low. The surface of the stainless steel welded tube has tiny grains, and the surface is delicate and textured.
2. Mirror tube: It has a flawless surface, good light transmission, and smooth inner and outer walls. It is suitable for applications in high-end construction and decoration fields.

Advantages and disadvantages of SCH 80 stainless steel welded pipe:

The biggest difference between stainless steel pipes and ordinary steel pipes is their excellent corrosion resistance. Therefore, stainless steel pipes are widely used in chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, light industry and other industrial fields. Stainless steel welded pipe has the following characteristics:

1. Advantages
(1) Good corrosion resistance: Stainless steel is a material with good corrosion resistance among steels. It can resist corrosion in atmospheric oxidation, acidity, salty seawater and corrosion by various organic and inorganic media.
(2) Beautiful: The surface of the stainless steel welded pipe is bright and beautiful, with a silvery white color. As the service life increases, the surface remains smooth and clean.
(3) High strength: Because stainless steel has high hardness after processing, it has excellent tensile and compression properties and impact resistance, and can still maintain stable performance at extremely low or high temperatures.

2. Disadvantages
(1) High cost: Due to the high production, processing and sales costs of stainless steel, the price of stainless steel pipes is generally higher than that of ordinary steel pipes.
(2) Difficulty in processing: Stainless steel is difficult to process, and the production conditions are relatively harsh. It requires higher technology and equipment conditions to process high-quality welded pipes.

Application occasions of SCH 80 stainless steel welded pipe:
1. Chemical industry: Stainless steel welded pipes have good corrosion resistance and can resist the erosion of various strong acids and alkalis. They are widely used especially in chemical equipment, fertilizer equipment, food processing equipment and other occasions. Stainless steel welded pipes are mainly used as pipes for corrosive media, such as alkali rotors, evaporators, cooling towers, neutralization towers, lime milk and other equipment.
2. Oil and gas industry: In oil and natural gas processing, stainless steel welded pipes are often used in the manufacture of refining equipment and oil and gas pipelines. Its excellent corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance make it well in line with the needs of these industrial applications. .
2. Mechanical structure: Stainless steel welded pipes have high hardness and strength and are often used to manufacture mechanical components, aerospace equipment, automobile parts, etc.
3. Construction: Stainless steel welded pipes have beautiful surfaces and high smoothness, and are widely used in high-end buildings, interior decoration, hotels and other high-end places.
4. Energy: Stainless steel welded pipes are widely used in energy fields such as water source utilization, oil, natural gas, chemotherapy lamps, photovoltaic solar energy, and hydropower.

For example: In combustion devices, such as gas boilers, heat exchangers and industrial stoves, stainless steel welded pipes are widely used. The function of the stainless steel threaded pipe used in the heat exchanger is to transfer heat and effectively transfer heat from one medium to another medium, thereby realizing the function of the heat exchanger. In addition, stainless steel threaded pipes also have good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties and can be used in various environments.

In addition, stainless steel welded pipe manufacturers provide a variety of models and specifications, which can be customized as needed and suitable for various specific application scenarios. For example, 253MA stainless steel welded pipe is widely used in the chemical industry, such as nitric acid manufacturing, sulfuric acid manufacturing, etc. These characteristics and application range of stainless steel welded pipe make it an important material in many industries.

SCH 40 pipe vs SCH 80 Stainless steel welded pipe:
The main difference between SCH 40 and SCH 80 stainless steel welded pipes is the wall thickness. SCH 40 steel pipe has a thinner wall thickness and is often used in low-pressure applications such as residential plumbing or irrigation systems. SCH 80 welded pipe has thicker walls and is used in high-pressure applications such as industrial processes, hydraulic systems and underground piping. They are designed to handle higher pressures and withstand greater stresses than SCH 40 pipe.

Looking at specific dimensions, the wall thickness of SCH 40 pipe is approximately 0.109 inches, while the wall thickness of SCH 80 pipe is approximately 0.154 inches. This means that SCH 80 pipe is approximately 30% thicker than SCH 40 pipe. While SCH 80 pipe is stronger and more durable than SCH 40 pipe, they are also more expensive.

SCH 80 pipe has thicker walls and requires more material and more manufacturing time, which increases costs. When selecting pipe for a specific application, it is important to consider the pressure requirements and the cost-effectiveness of selecting thicker, more expensive pipe.
